Our Minerals
CERIUM Ce 58
A soft REE used as a catalyst in self cleaning ovens, catalytic converters and cracking for the petroleum industry. Glass industry as a polisher and coloring for ceramics industry.
LANTHANIUM La 57
Use to produce high refractive glass and alkali-resistant glass, concrete reinforcing. Hydrogen storage, as well as battery electrodes, flint, and camera lens.
NEODYMIUM Nd 64
Use to produce smartphones, computers, super magnets, electric motors, sound systems, pure sunlight, welder masks and lasers.
PRASEODYMIUM Pr 59
Used with Neodymium to create high powered magnets. Studio lighting for Motion picture industry, yellow glass and welder’s masks.
RUTHENIUM Ru 44
Used to harden platinum and palladium and for increasing corrosion resistance for titanium by a hundred times.
YTTERBIUM Yb 70
Ytterbium has few uses. It can be alloyed with stainless steel to improve some of its mechanical properties and used as a doping agent in fiber optic cable. One of ytterbium’s isotopes is being considered as a radiation source for portable X-ray machines.
YTTRIUM Y 39
Yttrium is the lightest of the rare earth elements. It is used in LED lighting, TV screens, electrodes and cathodes. In lasers to cut through metal and in aluminum and magnesium as a super alloy.
A catalyst in petrochemicals, a treatment for liver cancer, and in camera lenses.
BISMUTH Bi 83
Mostly used in pharmaceuticals and cosmetics. Potable water systems and pigments are common applications.
COBALT Co 27
Major use is high performance alloys. Prosthetic parts, rechargeable batteries for cars, polymers, and historic cobalt blue.
LITHIUM Li 3
Lithium has the distinction of being the lightest metal. Is found in thermal springs and prescribed for depression and other mental disorders of bi-polar or manic aggression. And forgetfulness, just remembered it’s used for batteries.
NIOBIUM Nb 41
Used primarily to strengthen metals from aerospace to bridge spans. Optics and electronics are key elements.
TANTALITE Ta 73
Tantalum is a dark blue gray mineral easily fabricated and highly conductive of electricity and heat. Having the fourth highest melting point among metals, and high resistance to corrosion, leads to its use in capacitors, mobile phones, computers and video games.
As a super alloy, tantalum is used in jet engine and missile parts, chemical refineries and heat exchangers, and vacuum tubes and furnaces.
Tantalums ability to form direct bonds to hard tissue and nonirritating, makes it the premier choice for medical implants.
TITANIUM Ti 22
Has the highest strength to density of any mineral, thus used in aerospace, medical, and industrial applications. Corrosion resistant to sea water and chlorine.
VANADIUM V 23
85% used to significantly harden steel, ever since the Model T days. Used for bicycles, wheels, and axles.
GOLD Au 79
Everyone seems to know what gold is and the many ways to use it. From going shopping to burying in the backyard, to filling a Swiss Vault, we even use to mark our marriage partner.
PALLADIUM Rh 45
Used in catalytic converters, is crucial in keeping our air environment cleaner.
PLATINUM Pt 78
Platinum or white gold is highly valuable, with only a few hundred tons produced annually. Is a noble metal and is remarkably resistant to corrosion.
RHODIUM Rh 45
Rhodium is the rarest and most expensive of the precious metals. Is a noble metal and the most reflective, so used over many jewelry metals and in the most expensive of elite items.
SILVER Ag 47
Silver is a very useful metal in being highly ductile and easy to work. Since it is pure in nature, it is one of the oldest materials for jewelry and coinage. Conducting both heat and electricity, found from tea pots to electronics.
